“After discovering dampness on two of our Kitchen walls which coincided with leaking guttering on the outside of our house I resigned myself to the prospect of replacing our aged metal guttering. With this in mind I asked Graham to give me a quotation to undertake the work.

Having examined the problem area Graham was not convinced that the problem had anything to do with the guttering even though it was leaking. He asked to inspect the attic area and again found there to be no problems. After looking at the unquestionable marks on the kitchen walls he asked for a chair to look on top of the wall units ( having swept away the filth to take a better look):no reflection on my wife – I’m the cleaner, he was able to peel off some paper to reveal that there was no dampness to the walls at all.

The problem lay firmly with the type of wall covering which was absorbing moisure on the outside walls. After two hours detective work the cause of the problem was found. He refused any payment for his time.

Graham will be returning to complete the guttering problem and will need the services of a BNI decorator but it was refreshing to see a builder spending so much time getting to the REAL cause of my problems and not as so many do which is jump to a quick fix”
